In the words of S.Ramesh, chairman and CEO, powertronix Systems Pvt Ltd, and general secretary of UMDA(UPS Manufacturers and Dealers Association), "The VRLA/SLA battery market has experienced tremendous growth in the past few years. UPS systems have become a neccessity rather than a mere lifestyle product. As per the IDC report, the growth of the UPS/inverter industry in 2005 grew 20 per cent in value and 30 per cent in volume. These UPS systemsuse VRLA/SLA batteries, so we assume that the battery market grew in the same proportion. In general, the cost of the total power solution can be shared in a 60:40 ratio between UPS systems and batteries."
